Panama is a country located in the Central America region of North America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Colombia and Costa Rica.

The population is primarily Creole, mostly of Spanish descent. There are also populations of Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Jewish origins. There has been a Chinese community for a long time, and a small Hindu community lives in the capital, Panama City. The largest demographic group is the interioranos (“interior people”, they come from others district out of the city), who are classified as “Hispano-Indians.” This group is called mestizo (mixed European and native American), and its members consider themselves the “real Panamanians.”
